An R/T, or rough/rugged terrain tire, blends the more aggressive look of a mud tire with the more comfortable ride and long-lasting performance of an all-terrain tire. R/T tires almost always enhance the look of the truck or SUV over and above what an original equipment  tire provides and they give the driver greater off-road traction compared with an all-terrain tire. R/T tires are not as noisy nor do they have as harsh of a ride as mud tires. A good "Hybrid" Rugged Terrain tire should have a good balance of on and off-road performance.
